Vinyl Sundays at Lashings

Lashings Resort in Treasure Beach is introducing “Vinyl Sundays” at its beach club, in collaboration with Satnam Singh Chatha of Studio South Coast.

Satnam is a musician, songwriter, composer, sound engineer and producer who has worked with artists around the world. Originally from London, he has lived and worked in India and Canada where he developed a unique mix of musical genres including Punjabi, hip hop, R&B, dancehall and reggae.

Previously a producer and engineer at 5 Rivers studio in Brampton, Ontario for 20 years, he is now running a recording studio in Treasure Beach on the south coast of Jamaica. Lashings has two vacation locations in the area - a hotel and villas in the hills and sea front suites in Old Wharf. The beach club has a bar and grill which hosts regular live music sessions, including guest appearances from UB40 keyboardist Rajive Jahred Gordon.

Satnam said: “I will be playing vinyl from various genres including reggae, R&B and world music. The aim is to be positive and uplifting, creating a warm, friendly and positive environment at Lashings where guests can also enjoy good food and drinks.

“Vinyl records have a unique quality, that’s closer to the original sound. For me it’s also about making clean positive music for the mind, body and soul. Connecting like minded people through music throughout the globe, by creating music in several genres.”

Lashings owner David Folb said: “Jamaica is the home of world music - musicians here have this amazing talent to be able to bring together all the different influences on this island - including African, Indian and our own home grown reggae. As a music concept, Vinyl Sundays are hugely popular and we hope to offer it to a wider audience here in Treasure Beach.”

Vinyl Sundays will be every Sunday from 5-10pm at Lashings Beach Club in Old Wharf, Treasure Beach.
